GIFT-BLUE APPLE-
This german outfit released this, their second album, in 1974. After a reasonably succés with their first album vocalist Herman Treichel left the band. Bringing in fresh insight and great organdrive by hiring Dieter Frei, he got what it took to Place this album as one of germany´s better Kraut/Hard/Prog rock records. A hugh following was created. The appleshaped coverart maybe didn´t do the Selling Point of view any favors but today it stands out as one of the best from the `70s.
The production is top notch by timestandards and there´s a great interaction between the keyboard and vocals. The rest of the band just brings in the perfect framing towards the exceptional songs. Great drive with a funky carpet ride as a basement Foundation. This is a very good album and not Always recognized. Maybe because of the cover, but(t) for me Germany is all about apple strudel.. 🙂

Whatabout the drummer, Herman Lange?? Besides that he´s got a name that sounds like an alpine skier this fellow possesses great drumming skills. His striking abilities are up with the best and the hit ratio is just superb. The technical skills just make you wanna hit down to the rehearsal room and start banging around the drumkit. A very good personal style together with sensational timing and Dynamics. I like this drummer and very few contemporary german drummers can match Mr Lange. A very good job!! 🙂
I have written this Before and I´ll write it again. This is just what you would expect to get when you see the frontcover. Great Kraut/Hard/Prog rock with no one what so ever comparison. If you are in for the whole treatment of `70s rock this album must be in your Collection. If you do not own a copy it might be a good idea to purchase one. Original copies are very expensive but lucky for us, reissues on both CD and vinyl come at an affordable pricetag. I could even hang this coverart up as a poster…Just plain great!!!
