German apple pie

GIFT-BLUE APPLE-

This german outfit released this, their second album, in 1974. After a reasonably succés with their first album vocalist Herman Treichel left the band. Bringing in fresh insight and great organdrive by hiring Dieter Frei, he got what it took to Place this album as one of germany´s better Kraut/Hard/Prog rock records. A hugh following was created. The appleshaped coverart maybe didn´t do the Selling Point of view any favors but today it stands out as one of the best from the `70s.

The production is top notch by timestandards and there´s a great interaction between the keyboard and vocals. The rest of the band just brings in the perfect framing towards the exceptional songs. Great drive with a funky carpet ride as a basement Foundation. This is a very good album and not Always recognized. Maybe because of the cover, but(t) for me Germany is all about apple strudel.. 🙂

Whatabout the drummer, Herman Lange?? Besides that he´s got a name that sounds like an alpine skier this fellow possesses  great drumming skills. His striking abilities are up with the best and the hit ratio is just superb. The technical skills just make you wanna hit down to the rehearsal room and start banging around the drumkit. A very good personal style together with sensational timing and Dynamics. I like this drummer and very few contemporary german drummers can match Mr Lange.  A very good job!! 🙂

I have written this Before and I´ll write it again. This is just what you would expect to get when you see the frontcover. Great Kraut/Hard/Prog rock with no one what so ever comparison. If you are in for the whole treatment of `70s rock this album must be in your Collection. If you do not own a copy it might be a good idea to purchase one. Original copies are very expensive but lucky for us, reissues on both CD and vinyl come at an affordable pricetag. I could even hang this coverart up as a poster…Just plain great!!!

Early in the morning..

JOHN VERITY BAND-JOHN VERITY BAND-

As scones does it for a cup of tea, so does this album from 1974,  the same thing to your turntable. Bringing a Perfect Match! This Hard/Classic/prog rock record got Everything you will ever need for an unknown Discovery into the ocean of obscure albums. Perhaps More famous for his involvment in the band Argus, John Verity’s participation makes this a Little more interesting to approach. As good as the great feeling with the first rays of Sunlight early in the morning, just as fresh is this piece of plastic.

The Production is top notch with clear great sound and a perfect balance between all of the instruments and the vocals. As Mr Verity knows his way around the fretboard this is just the feeling of being struck by a major goldfind. Even as the album evolves, the songs turn both heavier and more powerdriven. This is a very good record with no what so ever recognizion back in the day. Great!! 🙂

John Verity Band

What about the drummer, Ron Kelly?? This is a powerhouse drummer with great rock striking abilities. The timing and hitratio are all just fine but the most impressive part is the punsch and the drive to keep the drums interesting to follow during the songs. This is  good drumming but he´s not reinventing the Wheel. Just great rockdrumming. Impressive manners!!

As this album is a frontrunner towards the English Heavy metal scene that would explode in the late ´70s, you will “reckognize” the soundframe. Great copies are out there for a descent piece of your Money and if you´re in for straightforward Hard/Classic/prog rock with no what so ever competition from the time period, this one is a Winner!! A Very good album which has been hidding under the radar. This album is as fun to enjoy in your headphones as is it to play it  loud at the vinyl gathering. Fellows! Raise your glas for an eminent rock Classic record!!

Ressurrection at last…

NASHVILLE PUSSY-GET SOME-

After a well earned vacation it´s time to put the pedal to the metal and bring you a fresh start of the second season of year two with this great blog. Originated from Atlanta US, this fourpiece brawlers set of their career in the late ´90s. Mixing a furious attitude towards Hard,Blues,Southern, punk rock it can only mean one thing. No hold bars and full throttle rock´n´roll. Ressurrection at last for rock’ n’ roll!!

This their fourth studio album released in 2005, finds the path of which direction the band is moving and this is a true master class contender in this genre. Blain Cartwright brings the recognizabel vocals and add the seasoning this Music needs. The blistering guitarriffs by Ruyter Suys just adds up the equation. This high fuelled couple never stops to make the most of good plain rock material but at the high end of the scale. This is a very good record!

Nashville Pussy

Whatabout the drummer, Jeremy Thompson?? This fellow both got an impeccable drive together with true attitude towards the songs. The technical skills are avarage and the lack of Dynamics just don´t inflict on the record. This is a harddriven album and a fine piece of drumming in that sense. The hit ratio och timing is just like a right handed fist in your face and I like it!! A Pleasure to listen to!! 🙂

If your in for Hard/Blues/Southern/Punk rock Music with American flavour, this is the album for you. It takes no prisoners and delivers the best Atlanta got to offer in this Genre. Great albums are out there for no Money at all, even reissues!! This is the perfect party record for all of you who agree´s with Blair Cartwright;

“Write my will in lines of cocaine
Baptize myself in whiskey
Take every pill that’ll fit in my mouth
And see where that’ll get me”

A splendid piece of party-lyrics! 🙂
