Almost Allman…

ALAMO-ALAMO-

Released in 1971 this a outfit orginated from Memphis Tennesse US. This is their only album and it´s a Heavy/blues/prog/Southern rock album with strong driving songs and great delivery.

The excellent producing leaves a  timeless impression with strong, straining good vocals from Ken Woodley who also plays the black and Whites. Guitarist Larry Raspberg is doing a tremendous job and bassplayer Larry Davis fits like a glove in this almost Allman Brothers band.

With a Southern take on the soundpicture, along with the gritty Hammond organ- the album features eight solid Cuts. Standout tracks would be “Bensome Changes”, the excellent “Question Raised”, “The World We Seek”, and “Got to Find Another Way”. A suprisingly well crafted album..very very good!

Whatabout the drummer, Richard Rosebrough?? This is determind drummer with a good drive, funky playing style, thats suits the album through and through. Maybe not your greatest handy man on the technique but all in all very competent and good drummer. Thumbs up!!

This is a must have if your in to American Hard/blues/prog rock with Southern attitude. A very good record that leaves you with a smile on you face. Faboulus!!

Bad Behavior.

LEFT END-SPOILED ROTTEN-

Released in 1974 this outfit originated from Youngstown PA. A very good mixture of Hard/glam/prog rock this album really deliver the goods. Rockin out in Pennsylvania and Ohio the band had a huge following and a string of local chart-hits between 1970-1974. This album sums up the peak of their popularity.

A very good production of the album is followed up with great vocals from Denis T Menass, the Twin guitar playing is up with the best of the genre. The bassguitar  is solid with no suprises.

Standout tunes would be “Bad Talkin´lady” and the Beatlescover of “Every Little thing” otherwise there are no weak spots and the whole album is very percistent and strong. This album brings out a bad behaviour and deserves to be played loud and in the Company of Cold beers and good friends.   🙂

Whatabout the drummer, Pat Palombo?? As a co writer of many of the songs the playing style is very good, clean striking and the his dynamics are excellent. Not much to bring to the table when it comes to technical challenges but all in all a very nice experience. A great job!!

This is a really goldmine if you´re into Hard/glam/prog kind of protometal Music. A definitive buy in that sense and leaves nobody with  sore ears. A Great album…

Purgatory…

IRON MAIDEN-KILLERS-

Released in february 2, 1981 this album maybe doesn´t fit the Picture when it comes to obscurity. But never the less this is a drummers view of things and not taking this album in consideration of all time drummers would be a major sin and I don´t wanna end up in purgatory.. 😉

As Always when it comes to followers for the first album, many discussion will take Place, if this is a better record than the”maiden” debut? In my opinion this is one of the best records of the NWOBHM movement and therefore also on of Iron Maidens greatest albums.

Sparks fly on this album. Steve Harris is on Speed, the guitars are brilliant and Paul Diánno is peaking as a vocalist. Martin Birch´s producing is a timejewel. Strong tunes over the entire album makes this a great joy on the turntable. Stand out songs would be “Wratchild” and “Killers” but no song falls off the wagon.

Whatabout the drummer, Clive Burr?? Great Britain has produced many great drummers and Mr Burr is one of the better ones. His playing style is furious with a personal strike and impact that sorts him out from the rest. His Dynamics are fantastic and the drive is fenomenal. In my book it´s  Mr.Burr who pushes the rest of the band to greatness. On this album there´s absolutely nothing to complain about. If I could relive my Life I´ve would like to have Mr. Burr´s playing style. This is an OUTSTANDING performance. No disrespect towards Nico Mcbrain but he is left behind on the first song… 🙂

Of course you´ve heard this album and probably already own it but, do your self a favor and listen to both NOTB and POM. Listen carefully and compare for yourself how good this drummer really was. A forgotten master. To bad we can´t enjoy his playing anymore. Rest in Peace.

A Must Have album!!
