IRON MAIDEN-KILLERS-
Released in february 2, 1981 this album maybe doesn´t fit the Picture when it comes to obscurity. But never the less this is a drummers view of things and not taking this album in consideration of all time drummers would be a major sin and I don´t wanna end up in purgatory.. 😉
As Always when it comes to followers for the first album, many discussion will take Place, if this is a better record than the”maiden” debut? In my opinion this is one of the best records of the NWOBHM movement and therefore also on of Iron Maidens greatest albums.
Sparks fly on this album. Steve Harris is on Speed, the guitars are brilliant and Paul Diánno is peaking as a vocalist. Martin Birch´s producing is a timejewel. Strong tunes over the entire album makes this a great joy on the turntable. Stand out songs would be “Wratchild” and “Killers” but no song falls off the wagon.

Whatabout the drummer, Clive Burr?? Great Britain has produced many great drummers and Mr Burr is one of the better ones. His playing style is furious with a personal strike and impact that sorts him out from the rest. His Dynamics are fantastic and the drive is fenomenal. In my book it´s Mr.Burr who pushes the rest of the band to greatness. On this album there´s absolutely nothing to complain about. If I could relive my Life I´ve would like to have Mr. Burr´s playing style. This is an OUTSTANDING performance. No disrespect towards Nico Mcbrain but he is left behind on the first song… 🙂
Of course you´ve heard this album and probably already own it but, do your self a favor and listen to both NOTB and POM. Listen carefully and compare for yourself how good this drummer really was. A forgotten master. To bad we can´t enjoy his playing anymore. Rest in Peace.
A Must Have album!!
